Heat pot over MED/LOW add EVOO. Lightly sautee onion (no color). + garlic, cook 1 min. + dried spices and salt. + tomato paste and mix together until uniform paste, cook 1 min.
+ basil leaf and red wine, reduce by half. 2-3 min.
+ crushed tomatoes, combine thoroughly. LOW simmer, uncovered, 20 min. Check for salt final 5 minutes. Heat off. Remove basil. Cool 5 min to serve.
